Wingd and the HHI-EMD ink accord focused on a “sustainable” engine
WinGD and the Engine Machinery Division of Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI-EMD) have signed a Joint Development Agreement to jointly develop engine solutions that further reduce methane GHG emissions while improving engine efficiency and footprint for reduced costs.
The signing ceremony was hosted by the President and COO of HHI-EMD, Kwang-hean An, and joined by the Vice President of R&D of WinGD, Dominik Schneiter and the Global Sales Director, Volkmar Galke, who traveled from their head office in Switzerland.
The cooperation will aim to further improve WinGD’s dual fuel, low pressure X-DF engines. The main objectives are to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions and toxic air pollutants such as NOx, reduce fuel consumption and minimize the engine footprint through an integrated design optimized for new construction and renovations.
As a first step, HHI-EMD and WinGD will perform prototype testing of a compact energy-saving and emission-reducing technology on the engine in 2022.
