Video revealing engine details released
Skoda India has been working on its premium mid-size sedan for some time. The manufacturer has fully unveiled the car and the official launch is expected to take place next month. We will be driving this all-new sedan in the next few weeks and a detailed review about it will also be available on our website and YouTube channel. The automaker has now released a new video revealing engine and transmission options with the new Slavia sedan. Skoda Slavia will compete with cars like Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz in the segment.
The video was uploaded by Skoda India on its official YouTube channel. We have discussed the design and features of the Skoda Slavia in other articles. In this video the engine details of the Slavia are mentioned. Like any other Skoda vehicle currently available for sale in the Indian market, the Slavia is also available with petrol engine options.
There are not one but two engine options. The lower variants of Skoda Slavia will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It will be a three-cylinder unit that generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of peak torque. This 1.0-liter turbocharged engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The top versions of the sedan will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. The engine features active cylinder technology. This is the same function that shuts off two cylinders of the engine when it is cruising or when there is not much pressure on the engine.
The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG transmission. The video mentions that the Skoda Slavia can do 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and has a top speed of 190 km/h. We assume that these figures apply to the more powerful 1.5-liter TSI version of the Slavia.
In terms of design, Slavia gets a design that is not much different from other cars in the family. It has several sharp lines running through the body and the front gets Skoda’s signature butterfly grille. There are chrome surrounds similar to what we saw in the Skoda Kushaq SUV. The Skoda Slavia gets neat looking alloy wheels, all LED headlights and taillights and other features.
Skoda Slavia is based on the same platform as Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Inside, the car comes with a premium cabin that comes with several features. It has a gloss black element on the dashboard, ventilated seats for front passengers, two-tone leather upholstery, two-spoke steering wheel, multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, infotainment touch screen, panels touch screens with grooves for automatic climate control, etc. . The car also offers rear air vents, wireless phone charging system, fully digital dashboard, auto start/stop, power sunroof, and more. Skoda will likely offer the Slavia as a premium sedan and will be slightly more expensive than the Skoda Rapid it will replace when it launches.
