The Automotive Technology Program at Northern Maine Community College received a new mobile tire / wheel lift from the Maine Automobile Dealers Association.

NEAR ISLE, Maine – The Automotive Technology Program at Northern Maine Community College received a new mobile tire / wheel lift from the Maine Automobile Dealers Association. This new equipment is the same as that used in many dealerships, specialty tire stores and auto repair shops. It represents the benchmark for quality in the field.

According to instructor Bob Kaiser, “The rechargeable mobile tire lifter is used to support the weight of the wheel during the removal and installation process. Due to the increase in tire and wheel weights, the industry has experienced an increase in lifting injuries. Kaiser said: “This unit has a capacity of 200 pounds, thus reducing possible injuries.”

NMCC offers an Associate’s Diploma program in Automotive Technology as well as a 9-month Professional Certificate program. – to name a selection. Graduates are eligible to take the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Student Certification Exam upon completion of the program.
