Furetank to sell two dual-fuel tankers to Neste

Furetank Rederi AB has announced that it has signed an agreement to sell two dual-fuel tankers of 17,999 dwt Fure Valö and Fure Ven to Finnish company Neste, a producer of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel. The vessels will be delivered in October and December 2023, when the first of seven new vessels already ordered by Furetank and its partners is expected to be delivered from the Yangzhou shipyard.

“It is good news for us to be able to continue to advance our environmental efforts and develop new vessels. We see this as great recognition that another major player in our market and one of our important customers is choosing to investing in our ships because of the environmental benefits they bring through reduced emissions and noise,” said Lars Höglund, CEO of Furetank.

Furetank has a long-term contract to transport renewable fuels for Neste, giving the company the opportunity to assess sister vessels VINGA.

Fure Valö and Fure Ven are fitted with Wärtsilä engines, with bi-fuel capability to run on LNG/LBG. They are designed in collaboration with FKAB Marine Design with a hybrid battery solution and several innovative features that reduce fuel and energy consumption. This reduces emissions of CO2, sulfur oxide, nitrogen oxide and hazardous particles. The vessels achieved the best EEDI value in their segment globally.
