Energy Growth on E15 Pt 1

I am Bob Larson. When it comes to gasoline, you’ve probably heard arguments in recent years about E15, which is 85% petroleum and 15% ethanol gasoline, or grain alcohol derived from corn.

Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor says a lot of people aren’t very familiar with E15, but should be…

SKOR… “Well that should be something you could just get at the pump because it’s a low carbon fuel, it has a higher octane number so it’s actually better for. engine. It burns cleaner and fresher. You use fewer toxic additives, and consumers save five to ten cents per gallon. I mean it’s really a win, a win for the American rider, especially if you want to do something good for the planet.

Skor says it really seems like a simple choice…

SKOR… “Well you use that fuel, it’s less greenhouse gas emissions and you don’t need a new car to do it. You can use it in the car you drive on the road today. And so, as we talk about bigger, bigger, and grander things to mitigate climate change, this is something that can be used in cars today. Every consumer can use it and it’s affordable for all communities and that’s important too.

So why is this change causing so much controversy? …

SKOR… “You know, we have a lot of political fights with ‘big oil’ because the more ethanol you use in the gas tank, the less oil you will use. It is therefore a competition for a part of the reservoir.

Tune in tomorrow to learn more about Growth Energy‘s position on the benefits of E15, or better gasoline blends.
